Trouble shooting - Making calls to other video systems

I want to make calls to other video systems, but I'm not sure how to do this

Visual Nexus is based on the ITU standards for video communications, known as H.323. It should easily connect to other video systems based on the same standards.  Below are some possible failure mechanisms and solutions to try to make the connection.

When I dial a room system using the IP address I've been given it does not connect

The room system you are trying to call must be on a public IP address and not behind a corporate firewall.  If Visual Nexus can not see the room system it can not make a connection.  Some form of traversal system, such as the Visual Nexus video proxy, will be needed so that connections can be made out side the local network.  You will need to discuss the requirement with the administrators of the network where the room system is located.

I want to connect to a Microsoft office communicator client

Microsoft Office Communicator does not comply with the ITU H.323 standards.  However, Visual Nexus does supply a gateway so that calls can be made between the two systems.  You should discuss your requirements with your Visual Nexus reseller.

I want to connect to a Lifesize video codec but am having problems with the video freezing

This problem has been reported when the version 4 firmware is used on the Lifesize codec. Downgrading to version 3 of the Lifesize firmware will resolve the problem.  The new version 4.0.2 of Visual Nexus will support version 4 of the Lifesize firmware.

I want to connect to an old video conferencing system, but it is not an IP device

The original video conferencing systems connected over ISDN networks.  While most have now been upgraded to the faster and cheaper IP networks, you may still want to make calls to an old ISDN system.  This is possible using an IP to ISDN gateway.  These can either be purchased or rented for a specific call.  You should discuss your requirements with your Visual Nexus reseller.
