Trouble shooting - Video problems
Visual Nexus has very high quality video images. However there are a number of factors that can negatively effect the video quality. The most common are summarized below with ways to over come the problem.
The network is not able support the bandwidth required
High quality video uses quite a lot of network bandwidth. The default for Hub Meeting is set to 192Kbs as a good compromise between video quality and network bandwidth used. However it is possible that even at these rates the is insufficient network bandwidth to support smooth video images. You can check the status by looking at the network status bars at the bottom of the meeting manager. They should be all blue and will go to green, then yellow and then red if there is poor network bandwidth.
My video preview disappears when I make a call and the remote endpoint receives black video
As the call is being set up the camera has become disconnected from Visual Nexus. Please hang up, reinitialize the camera connection in the Meeting Manager by clicking <Tools> <Endpoint Configuration> <Camera> and then redial the call.
The lighting in the room is poor and the camera switches to a low frame rate
If you are in a room with low light levels, the camera will compensate by reducing the video frame rate. This will result in the image ghosting and the video fluidity being lost. The solution is to increase the ambient light on the room.
The video image of the person is very dark
If the light is behind an individual the camera will adjust for the bright light making the person appear very dark. Move the system around so that the light is behind the camera shining on the individual
The camera is out of focus
Even low cost web cams have focus rings on them. Make sure you are in focus using the preview window before making a call.
